Case #051509: Newton County Chamber of Commerce, Covington, GA
This case involves the historic Newton County Chamber of Commerce in Covington, Ga
The structure dates back to the 1800s and served as a private residence for several families until its present day use.
The claims of activity at this site include an apparition seen walking the upstairs hallway, a baby crib being moved at one time in what was the nursery upstairs, footsteps and a general feeling of uneasiness when alone in the building.
CGPS members present for this investigation include: Kathy Porter, Ken Curley, Phillip Langford, Melissa Wilbanks, Jason Baird, Jimmy Brown, Laura Clayton, Ben Clayton and Cindy Norwood. The equipment used included an IR camera, hand held video cameras, digital audio and digital still cameras as well as a baby monitor. The IR camera was set up in the upstairs realtor office facing the hallway where the apparition has been reported and the baby monitor was upstairs in the former nursery.
Evidence Review: several EVPs were recorded via digital audio and extracted from a hand-held video camera. There were voices heard by CGPS members from the baby monitor while all members present were downstairs in the meeting room.
Client reveal: the EVPs were played for the client and the baby monitor voices discussed as well as a cat "screech" heard by 3 CGPS members upon opening the attic stairs. No evidence was found of the existance of a cat in the building or any further phantom cat noises heard or recorded. The evidence was well received by the client who has invited CGPS back in the fall as the client is curious as to whether the season of the year will affect the evidence. CGPS will schedule a fall investigation as requested.
