Case #101510: Newton County Cemetery, Covington, GA
Joint investigation with Newton Paranormal Society
This historic cemetery is located in the middle of Covington, GA. It is historic in that there are slave graves as well as those of Civil War soldiers. It is also an active cemetery that is still in use to this day.
CGPS members present: Kathy Porter, Ken Curley, Jimmy Brown, Cindy Norwood, Kim Durden, Laura Clayton, Ben Clayton, Jason Baird, Janice Dobbs, Larissa McGibboney.
Newton Paranormal Society members present: Donald and Tiffany Monroe.
CGPS equipment used: digital still cameras, hand held video camera, EMF gauges, K2 meters, digital audio recorders.
NPS equipment used: digital audio recorder, Ovulus (device that uses a pre loaded vocabulary that entities purportedly can utilize for communication).
The group walked through the cemetery using the Ovulus to attempt contact as well as the call and answer technique. The Ovulus seemed to indicate an entity (ies) may have been trying to make contact with the group. During the investigation, CGPS investigator Ken Curley had the digital audio recorder forcibly removed from his hand and tossed to the ground. He states that the recorder was taken from his hand and moved horizontally before being forcibly thrown to the ground. This was witnessed by CGPS investigator Kim Durden who saw the recorder move horizontally before being thrown to the ground. No other personal experiences were noted.
Upon reviewing evidence, no EVPS or anomalous pictures were obtained. The incident with the audio recorder was captured on audio but with no EVP preceded the event or after it happened either.
